Its seems that this year weve never really been away from The Midland Hotel in Manchester and we were back again to film Marcelle & Adams wedding which was a fantastic celebration. Marcelle and Adam had been recomended to us by their friends who’s wedding we had covered some years earlier and it was nice to hear the positive feedback they had given them just prior to us meeting. Leading up to the wedding I had met with them on a couple of ocassions to discuss all the details and the kind of day they would have, needless to say it sounded superb, they had a great 1st dance planned, the decor sounded incredible and also we were looking forward to filming the wonderful Muzika Showband again.

It was sort of a milestone for us as its been over four years since we filmed our first Jewish wedding which coincidentally was also at the Midland hotel (see Jaimie & Marsha). Back then Jaimie & Marsha had chosen the lovely Jo Bradbury to photograph their wedding who was also Marcelle and Adams photographer!. Jo is a consumate professional and her work is truly outstanding, she’s also a pleasure to work with.

The Alexandra Suite looked truly breathtaking, due in no small part to the seamless planning of TLC wedding planners, who had laid out some spectacular centre pieces that looked incredibly stylish. I loved the colourful lighting and ambience during dinner it contrasted well with the lively and energetic build up into the night.

As a side note for the eagle eyed of you who think your seeing double, Adam is one of identical twins and when I say identical I mean IDENTICAL!

Spectacular place in Newcastle and a real surprise for a wedding venue. I had no idea weddings were held at the Discovery Museum! We had a great time filming Debra and Hal’s wedding which was just spectacular, the museum is like a tardis, quite unassuming outside but very grand with a spectacular expanse inside. Id been looking forward to covering Debra & Hal’s day for some time and what a wedding it was, such a beautiful ceremony at the United Hebrew Synagogue in Newcastle and great speeches in the evening all topped off with a Lionel Richie impersonator, fantastic. It was also a real pleasure working alongside Fyzal who photographed Debra & Hal’s wedding, check out some of his images, his work is spectacular.

Incredible weather in Bournemouth when we covered Katie and Marks day at the lovely Royal Bath Hotel. It was so great to be there, we had filmed Marks Sister’s wedding in December (see Nicole & Simon) so I new it was going to be a great celebration with a lovely family. It was a fab day, thoroughly enjoyed working alongside trendy photographer Jez Dickson which is starting to become a regular occurence! in a lovely part of the world. Hope you enjoy the teaser!

A great Jewish Wedding filmed in Manchester

What a fantastic Jewish wedding video we have to share today, filmed in Manchester city centre and just an incredible cimcha. We were really looking forward to covering Sam & Ben’s wedding and as Ben is an event planner I knew it was going to be something special. Such a wonderful wedding all held at Prestwich Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, which is a lovely place, The octagonal shaped room where the wedding reception was held looked particularly spectacular. Needless to say the day was planned with military precision and just seems like a blur now.

Its interesting how a traditional Jewish wedding is full of meaningful rituals, symbolising the beauty of the relationship of husband and wife, as well as their obligations to each other and to the Jewish people. The wedding day itself heralds the happiest and holiest day of one’s life it is considered a personal Yom Kippur for the chatan (Hebrew for groom) and kallah (bride), on this day all their past mistakes are forgiven as they merge into a new, complete soul. At the ceremony, the chatan wears a kittel, the traditional white robe worn on Yom Kippur. Its also customary for the chatan and kallah not to see each other for one week preceding the wedding, which increases the anticipation and excitement of the wedding. Jewish tradition likens the couple to a queen and king. The kallah will be seated on a “throne” to receive her guests, while the chatan is surrounded by guests who sing and toast to him.

At the bedekken, the veiling of the kallah by the chatan. The veil symbolizes the idea of modesty and conveys the lesson that however attractive physical appearances may be, the soul and character are paramount. It is reminiscent of Rebecca covering her face before marrying Isaac (Genesis ch. 29). It is a beautiful moment as its usually the first time the groom has seen his wife to be for some time and its always a time when emotions run high. The Ashkenazi custom is that the chatan, accompanied by family and friends, proceeds to where the kallah is seated and places the veil over her face. This signals the groom’s commitment to clothe and protect his wife.

There are of course many other elements to a Jewish wedding which I wont go into any further but I always find that they are such special ceremonies and in contrast with the hectic party which follows they are fantastic to film. All in all it was a real privelage for us to cover Sam and Bens day and I hope you enjoy the snappy little teaser we put together!

It was a glorious day at Sandon Hall in Staffordshire. Ash had put a lot of time and effort into making the day extra special, some really nice touches which made all the difference. Its a couple of years since I filmed at Sandon Hall but it was so nice to be back, its a great venue with some very elegant features. Fortunately the weather held up until the wedding breakfast and the evening finished with a lovely first dance. Love the track Steph and Ash chose for their teaser. Its short but has plenty of eye candy, and emotionally stirring content! Enjoy.
