A Beautiful Hyde House wedding in the Cotswolds

It was such a pleasure to be able to film this lovely Hyde House wedding in the Cotswolds. Not least because its one of the first we have shot in that part of the country. Having worked around London and the home counties for many years for some reason we never got the opportunity to shoot here. It was also a first working with Noel from Cotswolds Pictures who was a pleasure to work with and a seasoned pro from this area. Charlotte and James chose Hyde House as their venue and what a gorgeous place it is too. Surrounded by the awe inspiring Cotswold’s landscape, Hyde House is a great location for a wedding. The wedding ceremony and party took place in the barn which is adjacent to Hyde House and has kind of a rustic feel to it. At the back there is a beautiful garden bordering on to open fields.

Vintage Styling

I really loved all the little touches Charlotte & James made. The suits the guys wore were very smart and showed their unique personality with vintage styling with a slightly understated cut. I thought it was really cool how Charlotte and the girls put pictures of the grandparents in the ceremony room also, so they could be part of this special day. I think family is so important on a day like this and its heartwarming to see couples go that extra mile to remember their loved ones. In Hyde Barn there is an amazing high vaulted ceiling where the wedding breakfast takes place. It has huge windows that let light stream in and when decorated for Charlotte and James’s wedding it looked quite spectacular. They also had large ‘Love’ letters illuminating the room which was a nice touch.

Our Filming Style – Not just your average wedding video

Charlotte and James had a fairly small wedding and so it was really important to us that we didn’t detract from the days proceedings. Our approach has always been to blend in to the background and shoot in a journalistic style. Its a mindset that’s helped us build our business into to the success it is today. Capturing events as they naturally unfold is quite rewarding and more so when you work with couples like Charlotte and James who are clearly devoted to each other.

A Beautiful Wedding in Bury

Many of you lovely readers will have heard me wax lyrical numerous times about how we love what we do. Samantha and Marks church wedding in Bury typifies what I’m taking about. Their day was just so incredible and full of emotion. Its fair to say we had so much going on and the whole day kept our crew on their toes. The day started nice and early at Samantha and Marks home where we shot the getting ready bits. It was great to see Mark had sent Sam some flowers with a very moving message, and it tugged on the heart strings when Sam read it. That contrasted with Marks ‘getting ready’ where he literally was moved to tears when he read Sams note to him, it was such a great moment. I think sometimes its easy to become engrossed in capturing moments like these. Often its the small things that really display the love between two people or the closeness of a family. It was great to witness this first hand and clearly Sam & Mark have a very tight bond with their friends and family.

On to the Church for the Wedding Ceremony

The couple were married at Christ Church in Bury. Christ Church is a fine example of the Victorian Gothic Revival style. The church houses a number of very fine stained glass windows produced by the celebrated William Pape of Leeds. The support of English Heritage and a great deal of work by members of the congregation have allowed restoration work in recent years and it looks beautiful. It was nice to Tsee that Sam & Mark had booked a gospel choir to sing as she walked down the aisle which was so cool. They also performed throughout the day as the wedding guests enjoyed the reception.

Wedding reception and speeches

After the wedding in Bury the reception was held in a beautiful marquee in the families garden. It was a very relaxed affair and the nice weather allowed the guests to mingle outside while photographs were taken. The reception room looked incredible with the top table decorated with an abundance of flowers and candles. All in all a great setting for the evening ahead. After the speeches the room was extended to reveal the dance floor and the entertainment followed the first dance. What a great way to finish off.

Irton Hall Wedding

Just a great place to shoot a wedding and its no wonder they refer to it as the Lake Districts hidden jewel, Irton Hall wedding venue is truly a beautiful place. I dont know what it is about the Lake District, it almost feels like your in a different world. Its great to get away from all the hustle and bustle of daily life and its such a calming place. Irton Hall has a history stretching back to the 14th century, situated in the foothills of Lakeland’s western fells between Wasdale and Eskdale it is more like a stately home than a hotel. What a great find!!

Lake district weddings

Ok, let me tell you more about the day, we arrived nice and early and started shooting the prep. Both the bride and groom were staying at Irton Hall overnight and Matt and the grooms party traveled to the Church in a VW camper (how cool is that). It was a really chilled morning, lots of laughter and a little emotion but a great start to the wedding. We headed over to St Catherine’s Church, Boot in Holmrook.

The church ceremony

I guess one of the challenges of shooting weddings in remote locations is the access. St Catherine’s is a bit of the beaten track, but what a lovely church. As the guests made their way into the church, Angie and her dad arrived in a beautiful horse and carriage. The service was lovely, St Catherine’s is quite a small church so it had a very cosy feel to it. After the service we headed over to the reception and enjoyed some great entertainment. During the wedding breakfast Howard Wing performed in his own inimitable style. Howard has a talent for getting everyone in the mood and after the bridal party entered the room, Howard then wandered around singing and involving all the guests. Howard not only has a great voice, he is such a good entertainer and towards the end of the wedding breakfast the party was really getting started.

The day flew by and the guests enjoyed a short break just before the evening celebrations started and everyone gathered for the first dance, without any encouragement the dance floor was packed in no time and it was time for us to head home. What a great day and another fabulous wedding.

Congrats Angie & Matt

So cool filming Lucy & Graeme’s wedding, right from the day they booked us I knew it was gonna be something special. Its always nice when we are recommended and even better when the recommendation comes from the Brides own brother 🙂 Although it had been a staggering six years since we had filmed Emma & Bens wedding (if you fancy a look back in time, and see how our style has developed check out their wedding film). It was great to see a few familiar faces and also nice to work in such a relaxed atmosphere. I think Lucy & Graeme are just made for each other, as we filmed I couldn’t help but see the connection they had with each other, and Graemes face was a picture when Lucy walked down the aisle and he saw her for the first time.

We thoroughly enjoyed shooting the whole day starting with the preparations and witnessing the excitement first hand as Lucy and Graeme got ready. Moving onto the church and then the reception the guests were treated to a performance by some very talented singing waiters with a twist!! and on into the evening where Lucy and Graeme had a great band and DJ lined. What a party!!

Its been a while since we filmed at Croston Church, but always nice to visit this part of the country again and also pretty cool that its just a short drive for us 🙂 We had been recommended by several of Sue and Richards friends (see Vicky & Alastair & Simon & Rebecca ). Which is always nice and being among familiar faces is great and it made for a very enjoyable shoot.

I have to say Sue & Richard were so easy going they just literally soaked up the day. After the lovely service at Croston Church the reception was held at Shaw Hill Golf Resort. All the guests soaked up the sunshine and enjoyed an ice-cream before the wedding breakfast which flowed on into the evening. Awesome wedding and equally awesome couple. Enjoy
