A Jew-ish Wedding

Had a wonderful day at Carlton towers filming Alex & Davids Jew-ish wedding this summer. It may seem a bit of a strange title but all will be reveled when you check out the highlight. Thanks to some great speeches I didn’t really need to think too hard to title this post.

Carlton Towers

Carlton Towers is a beautiful stately home on a huge country estate. The owners have devoted nearly 30 years to maintaining and restoring the house and its parkland, and it is a credit to their hard work and commitment. It was our first time shooting there and although we had previously done some research it just doesn’t beat seeing it in all its splendor. You could literally spend all day wandering around shooting all the little details and some of the wide open spaces. I also love the lighting in there and the large windows let light stream in during the day adding a warmth to the interior.

A Cultural mix

It was really great that Alex and David had embraced both their cultures and decided to include elements of both. They chose not to have a Chuppah but had a beautiful arrangement which formed an arch at the end of the aisle. They also smashed the glass at the end of the ceremony which is always a fab moment and this coupled with the Israeli dancing made for such an energetic party. Thoroughly enjoyed working with Storm function band again and listening to the fab entertainment they provided.

Setting the scene

I really loved the build up in this wedding highlight, its such a mix of excitement and anticipation. Set against a beautiful back drop and with a very cool couple it represents what I feel to be some of our best work. We are constantly trying to come up with new ways to tell the story and break with convention a little. I think a good wedding film is always a mix of documentary style content mixed with movie style shooting. Leez Priory Wedding

This Leez Priory Wedding was so special. Not least that it was such a beautiful day and in such a great location. Leez Priory’s magnificent Tudor mansion is quite simply outstanding. Set in 40 acres of parkland, with lakes, lawns and a sweeping driveway, this place has it all. I was so happy that Emma & Tony had decided to have the wedding ceremony outside. It was a scorching day and seeing all the guests in their summery outfits was a nice contrast to some of the winter weddings we have shot.

Don’t Cry

I think its fair to say that moments of high emotion affect people differently and its quite common to see the Bride or Groom tear up during the ceremony. Its slightly less common to see one of them burst into fits of laughter but never the less its does happen. The strange thing is that its usually couples that think they will be in tears on their wedding day. Then when the moment comes and someone whispers “don’t cry” just before the vows, anything can happen. I have to confess to joining in with the laughter it was a great moment and totally unexpected.

On with the Wedding Celebrations

There was such a lot going on at Emma & Tony’s wedding and it was clear to see they had taken great care to plan the day meticulously. From the outdoor ceremony to the fireworks in the evening. I was really impressed that Emma had decided to throw her bouquet away. Well not literally, but certainly a bouquet toss which is always great fun. It never ceases to amaze me how competitive the ladies can be when rugby tackling each other for the flowers!!

The end of a long day

After filming all day in the heat we headed back to Manchester with some great memories of this lovely wedding and still buzzing from the footage we captured. I hope we venture to Leez Priory again in the future, we thoroughly enjoyed working here and also hearing Emma & Tony’s own love story. A Rivington Barn Wedding

When I look back at this years work its great to remember some of the highlights we have witnessed. When I saw Suzanne’s dad tear up when he opened the card she gave him, I must admit to feeling a little emotional as well. I think I will remember that moment for quite a while. Its such a proud moment for a father to walk his daughter down the aisle and I guess reading her heartfelt words makes it hard to keep composed. Of coarse there were many other moments at this wedding that made it so special and memorable for us, but check out the highlights and see for yourself. This Rivington Barn Wedding was such a lovely wedding and being back here was a pleasure, its a great venue in a lovely setting.

A Beautiful Summer Wedding

It was real nice to be working alongside Mick Cookson on the day, he has a nice relaxed style and is a seasoned pro, its fair to say we both made the most of the gorgeous surroundings. After the emotional start to the day things moved on at a whirlwind pace and the guys enjoyed a drink in the local pub before heading off to the church. Daniel was noticeably nervous but remained composed while the guests moved inside. Shortly after Suzanne arrived and made her entrance after the bridesmaids. It was a pretty traditional wedding with the inclusion of a lovely poem read out by one of the bridesmaids, such nice words I couldn’t help but include it in this highlight.

Arrive at Rivington Barn

The weather was perfect all day and with the odd cloud in the sky we enjoyed a beautiful summer wedding reception. One of the things I love about a Rivington Barn wedding is the outside spaces. Just a sort walk to the lake and the Barn borders on woodland so its a great spot for some secluded photography if thats your style. The interior is huge and broken up with saxon beams that support the structure, it has a distinct woodland feel and is quite unlike any other venue we have filmed at before.

The Evolution of Wedding Films

I think over the past few years wedding films have evolved into something representing real cinema, there has been a shift in both technique and technology and this has allowed filmmakers to perfect their craft and bring story telling to a whole new level. Cedar House Productions have embraced this and its our combined skills and experience of over 10 years making wedding films that allow us to tell the story in an artistic and timeless way. If you are considering having a wedding film, hit the contact button and talk to us. We would love to tell your story.

A Beautiful Wedding at Eshott Hall

Its been a while since we ventured to Newcastle and its a gorgeous part of the country when you drive beyond the city, this Eshott Hall wedding was a real delight for us to film. Eshott Hall lies between Morpeth and Alnwick and is set within beautiful gardens and woodland in the heart of Northumberland. I say ‘set in beautiful gardens’ but that really doesn’t do it justice. We spent all day at this beautiful country house which has a small informal chapel just a short walk away and its one of the most idyllic places we have visited. We were blessed with a warm summers day and not a cloud in the sky which made this all the more special.

Getting ready and beyond

One thing I loved about this Eshott Hall wedding was its size and grandeur, its not huge but its an impressive location. The 17th century decor gives it a timeless feel and the ancient woodland that surrounds has lots of little hiding paces reminiscent of a ‘secret garden’. Sophia and Chris both got ready at Eshott Hall so it was great to be able to move seamlessly between rooms and with only a short 5 minute walk to the chapel it meant that the wedding party could walk between the two quite easily. There were a few emotions as time passed and when Chis’s mum gave such a beautiful reading there were quite a few tears. It was such a heartwarming speech and straight from the heart, no paper to read from. From that moment I knew I wanted to use some of it to tell the story.

Dinner & Dancing

After the ceremony everyone headed back to Eshott Hall and enjoyed canapes outside whilst soaking up the sun. Sophia changed into a stunning red dress just before the wedding breakfast and all the guests made their way inside. The speeches followed shortly afterwards which were a real mix of laughter and emotion bringing a tear to the eye of several on the top table. The highlight of the evening though has got to be the first dance. Chris had mentioned that he and Sophia love dancing and had choreographed a first dance, normally these range from a little embarrassing to mildly impressive but Sophia & Chris’s was just on another level. Im not an expert by any means but we do sometimes shoot dance events and theirs was the best I’ve seen for a long time. As they finished the whole room was in uproar with cheers.

The Perfect Ending

As well as the spectacular first dance they had an awesome DJ (also one of the guests) who absolutely rocked and had everyone on the dance floor. I could see it was going to be a great party. We really loved shooting Sophia and Chris’s day, they are such a cool couple and were a pleasure to work with. This Eshott Hall wedding was a day that will stand out for us well into the future as we remember the laughter the love and the DANCING!!

Manchester Town Hall Wedding

City centre weddings are awesome and this was even more so as it was so close to home. I haven’t shot at Manchester Town Hall for such a long time and it was great to be back there for Jenny & Daniels wedding. They had taken over the Great Hall which is simply stunning, I love the architecture and its just a magical setting for a wedding. This happens to be one of a number of solo shoots we have done this year and getting to grips with filming alone was quite challenging all though a little liberating at the same time. Looking back on the footage it doesn’t feel like a solo shoot and I love some of the stuff I covered on the day. I have to also mention it was great working with Stephen McGowan his work is beautiful and you can see some of his pics from the wedding by following his link.

Wedding Ceremony

I really like the smaller rooms at Manchester Town Hall, they are great for a small informal ceremony and being adjacent to the Great Hall is pretty convenient for larger parties at night. The long elaborate corridors of the Hall look beautiful and I think its one of the nicest locations for an event in the city. We have been producing wedding videos manchester now for over a decade now and we have gained a greater appreciation of what a wedding is all about. Yes its a celebration but its also a coming together of families and friends, creating a record of that is such a humbling experience and we are ever grateful for the opportunity we have been given.

The little touches

Jenny and Daniel had put such a lot of effort into the day, I really loved the little touches and quite surprisingly the very cool Ladybird book titled ‘The Husband’ which Jenny couriered to Daniel just before the wedding, how sweet. It was such a joy to put together this highlight together for lovely couple and hope you enjoy watching.
